A bakery is to open in attractive ground floor retail premises in Shrewsbury town centre.
Sophie Martin, the owner of The Good Egg Bakery, has completed the letting of a well-appointed property at 3 Meadow Place, accessed via Castle Gates.
It will enable the business, which has previously sold baked goods to wholesalers, to now sell its tasty treats direct to the public.
Sophie said: “I’ve always wanted to run my own business and have managed a lot of hospitality venues.
“I’ve always loved baking, so it was just a case of taking that next step and having my first premises.
“I bake mainly cakes and bakes like brownies and cookies. I’m planning on also baking bread further down the line, but to start it will be coffee and cake.
“I’m hoping the shop will be ready to open by July, just in time for summer, so that people can visit and get their sweet treats.”
The premises at Meadow Place are conveniently located within walking distance of Shrewsbury’s main Pride Hill retail area.
It is also close to Shrewsbury’s bus and railway stations, as well as the library and Shrewsbury Castle.
The ground floor property, a well-presented self-contained ground floor retail shop, extends to approximately 274 sq ft.
It features a large glazed display frontage with security shutter, along with a rear kitchen/store room and internal toilet facilities.
Toby Shaw, who handled the letting for Towler Shaw Roberts, said: “The premises are very well located fronting Meadow Place and occupy the ground floor of an attractive three-storey building.
“It’s always nice to see independent businesses attracted to Shrewsbury town centre, so we are pleased to have completed a letting to Sophie Martin and wish The Good Egg Bakery every success.”
